Question about ranger bed replacements and remote start

So I have a 2001 Ford ranger edge 4x4 4 door and it was in a hit and run rear end collision totaling the bed and I was wondering what year of a bed would fit and also if it matters if the bed came from a 4x4 or a 2 wheel drive thank you in advance for the help

Edit: also how can I tell if it has remote start function all I got was the normal 3 button lock unlock and panic fob with the truck

There is a difference between a 4x2 and a 4x4 bed. The 4x4 bed would have holes to mount fender flares unless it is a SMC (plastic) flareside box. 1998 or newer bed will swap right onto your Ranger if it is a short box from a supercab or short wheelbase regular cab. There is a chance that the frame may have taken enough of a hit to be bent, so that needs to be checked out. You can search online for a bed near your location. I think the website is called car-parts.com or maybe car-part.com. A salvage yard will be able to tell you which years would be s direct swap. There may be some difference in the tail light wiring between some years.

my frame is bent I knew that already it's at a repair shop now to get the frame work done but they are not getting a bed for it I have to find one myself to put on it my taillights work still so If i could get away with just swapping the bed without the wiring it would not really matter too much about wiring and she is the regular bed on the 4 door crew cab I don't really want a flair side bed it just gives less bed space

friendly fyi,,,if you do opt for the flare side, the bumper and tailgate are different than the straight side. they are both narrower by several inches.

Extended cab and regular cab use the same bed mounting points step side or fleet side. I have personally done that swap. 2 wheel drive verse 4 wheel drive not sure about. 1997 and up are the same. The only questions the salvage guide ask is 6 or 7 ft bed with chrome wheel lips or not. They are not cheap.
