OK, I decided to give it a go and rebuild my transmission. Removal and dis assembly went well. I watched several good videos and got the book. Here is my problem I started assembly and everything was going well until I got to the sun gear and shell. Just before that, lower reverse clutch went good and only spins clockwise as it should.I dropped the planetary gear and snap ring in, so far so good. Now when I put the sun gear in it turns clockwise very easily, but takes great effort to make it go counter clockwise. the output shaft, before the sun gear turned freely both ways, so did the reverse clutch hub. I looked and looked and can't seem to see what is making this happen. on the bench, sun gear and planetary spin just great. Any Ideas???????????????
I wish we had one apart so I could check this in the case, I dont see why it would be tight one way and not the other.
I have a GM 4L60E trans apart on the table and it will turn both ways at that point during assembly and they are similar in that area of the gear train...

Hey sorry to resurrect an old thread but did you ever figure this out? I'm in the same boat. Pushed the sungear hub down and it will only spin clockwise not counterclockwise.
