1996 Side View Mirrors

I really hate the stock side view mirrors. They vibrate and blow around and are just a bad design. I am interested in something more stable. Can anyone recommend an easy/better replacement for these mirrors? Maybe go to a 3-point mount (generic) mirror solution? Let me know.

stock mirror (crap)

Generic 'upgrade' option

never had an issue with mine. Maybe yours are loose and can be tightened?

If they are aftermarket they are crap and do what yours are doing. The stock ones don't do it. I used lock washers and cranked down on them. They were better but not like stock. I still have the two stock mirrors, I think, if you are interested. Sandy

The OEM version of that mirror is quite good provided it isn't beat up. Most replacements for that style mirror that I have seen are definitely lousy. That one pictured is crap but is not stock.

You can tighten your stock mirrors by removing the door panel on the inside where you will gain access the a bolt. Sometimes the cross piece in the door breaks but often times it's just loose. Simple fix.

Not liking the looks, nor having the need of the factory-installed "bright swingout recreation mirrors" on my '97 F350, I replaced them with a pair of aftermarket, black paddle mirrors...from LMC I think...about 35 bucks ea. After 100K miles or so, I'm quite satisfied...they don't shake...they stay in adjustment...look good...not "crap" or "lousy" at all. Maybe I got lucky...but then again, I'm not "charging through the bush" or "wheeling".

My Bronco and pickup both came with that style mirror and they don’t move at all. One time a guy in a pickup (Chevy) tried to squeeze by me at stop light. When he passed by his driver’s side mirror hit the passenger side mirror on my Bronco. His mirror immediately folded in. It might have even broken his mirror. My mirror barely moved.

The ‘94 Bronco I owned came with the paddle mirrors. I didn’t care for them.
