So, since im unfortunately on long term disability amd not allowed to work, i look for things to do. When i was working full time, making decent money, i bought an 04 new F150 FX4. Today, i decided to look through its records which i keep and see what repairs have been done
This does NOT include regular maintenance like oil changes, tires, brakes, transmission fluid changes, or the several recalls along the way. Truck built Feb 2004, bought by me August 2004, xtra cab. I still have truck. Bought in CT, moved to Florida in 2014. Has a little over 140k miles. Nothing special ever done to it, except roll bar step, spray in rhino liner, soft tonneau cover, bug deflector.
1) power steering return hose repair $226
2) front struts and springs $900
3) camshaft position sensor $270
4) at 120k, spark plugs replaced, timing chain came off tensioners, cam phasers replaced, over $3k
5) both front window regulators failed, $600
6) fly wheel had to be replaced $1000
7) blower fan only worked on high $100
8) starter twice replaced $500
9) one of pulleys replaces $80
10) rear window leaked, replaced gasket $30
11) new exhaust at 100k $400 (original cat still works)

Truck runs fine still, motorcraft oil and filter every 4 or 5k
6 cd changer stuck in console, only radio operable. Rear differential clutch packs replaced under warranty with about 50k miles on vehicle they are slipping again
My 1993 2wd straight 6 (yes i know a much simpler truck) never gave me really any trouble, this one gave me quite a bit, but i still have it
Thoughts?

 

That seems like a lot of non normal maintenance repairs? KKnock on wood, only non maintenance thing I had to replace is the alternator and I'm at 186K
