Soo, when I push the clutch in at a stop sign/light She idils high! Almost scary high...I don't have a tach yet. Sometimes I think she's pushing 3-4?? It's like she wants to run..
Would a good hosing of the carb with cleaner lubricant be beneficial. Or is something deeper going on?
Does it do this all the time when warmed up and in neutral? Just when the clutch is depressed? In park? Only after driving or in your driveway too (when warm)?

I have an automatic, so I know it's a little different. Did this happen all the sudden? Have you tried adjusting the idle set screw? When first got my truck on the road last year I had a vacuum leak and compensated (not on purpose but because I didn't know I had a vacuum leak) and had the idle screw set way to high. Once I got the vacuum leak corrected, I was able to set the air mixture screws and idle to a proper setting. I'll be honest, I just installed a tach this weekend and was able to set the curb idle on mine to around 650, and my truck now idles and drives about as good as I could hope. Good luck!
Idle set screw is totally an option. I am half convinced Grandpa set Baby Blue to run as Grandma drove ...she (Grandma) may or may not have been able to correctly run a stick shift. If your not taught to listen to the engine.....or can't finese the clutch....I don't know.
Wear and tear is my secondary opinion. After Years....closing on 4 decades not sheltered....Baby Blue just needs a shower?
I purchased a truck a number of years ago with a shot auto tranny. The fast idle linkage was broken and therefore would not set when choked. So the PO just set the idle screw super high to keep it running when it was cold. Meanwhile, he was burning up the clutch plates everytime he sat at a stop light..................
Warmed up... Not so high. But since I hardly ever go 5 clicks from home.... If I run her a bit and romp the gas pedal at a stop light....she will slow her roll! Hench my 'needs a bathe"
If it hasn't been run a lot and sits more than it's driven (or was at one point) then it might even be your choke high-idle linkage sticking even when the choke butterfly plate is open all the way.
Another thing that comes up suddenly (or after sitting for a long time) are vacuum leaks. It would take a pretty hefty one to cause as high of an idle as you're experiencing though. Normally they start out small and just make for a rough idle. But what if a PCV hose or other type has popped off? Big leak!
Worth checking around under the hood visually at least.
