Throttle Pressure Limit Valve

Does anyone know where I can get a throttle pressure limit valve and spring for my C4 transmission? I took my valve body off and when I removed the filter, it was missing. I have checked the internet and found nothing. I don't know how long it has been off, it must have been lost by the po 15 years ago. It ran good until a couple of years ago and now it takes 5 minutes to kick into drive. It works good once it gets going, no slips. I don't know if this is the problem, but I would like to replace the valve and spring. It's the smaller one in the picture. It is for a 1981 F100.

Is this the little ball that falls out when you change the filter?

It is the spring and valve that is under the filter tab.

If there's no arrows pointing to basic part numbers, the parts are either obsolete or only furnished with the valve body.

OK, thanks. So I either have to buy a new valve body or head to the salvage yard.

I have a strange problem with my transmission, maybe someone can give me an idea what is wrong. After sitting overnight, I start it, put it in gear, but it will not go. No noise, no leaks. Full of fluid. Reverse works great. After letting it run for about 5 to 10 minutes, I can put it in low and it will finally kick in gear and go. I drive down the road about 1/2 mile in low and then I put it in drive and it works fine. No slipping. Runs great the rest of the day. I can park it for a few hours and it starts up and goes. But if it sits overnight it will not go into gear. It has been doing this for about 2 years. Sometimes it is worse and takes about 15 or 20 minutes to go into gear. I took the valve body off and it looks good, the filter and fluid are clean. I have replaced the filter and fluid. It is an 81 F100, C4 with a 302.

Visit some transmission shops like AAMCO, see what you can find.

Here is some good info. Reading this, looks like the seals in the tranny are getting hard and old, and not sealing when the trans is cold. He calls it "morning sickness".

Thanks for posting that about "morning sickness". That's exactly the problem I am having with my transmission.
