lokks like my generator is not keeping up with the electronic ignition distributer I installed and so I am looking at going with an alternator. I see where Speedway sells a bracket but I have no idea which alternator to use. Really don't want to start a collection of pulley's to get proper alignment so I'm asking for input and advise on which alternator works. As long as I'm asking I might as well ask for wiring advise too.
thanks, gatorjaws
P.S. can someone also explain how to post pictures to go with threads)in the simplest way possible please,I am a tech idiot)
Just click on the picture icon. It helps if you have the pictures in an album so they are easy to find. Or use the Go Advanced button and click on manage attachments.

You can buy one from Autozone, you may have some trial and error to figure out what length belt you will need. You should have the option between a single and double groove pulley. Personally, I bought the double groove because it gave me a straighter path for my belt. Just tell them the year and model of your truck and they should be able to pull it right up. Mine charges consistently at just over 14 volts unless i'm at idle with the headlights, heater, and windshield wipers on at the same time. I believe the alternator charges at 65 amps but it is plenty for my needs.
Are you sure your coil is sending a hot enough spark for your electronic ignition? I had to upgrade mine to the "flamethrower" coil when I upgraded the ignition
