yes, you can turbo any engine if your mind and wallet are willing

The 300 is a good candidate for a mild boost application, however there are no manufacturers that make turbo kits for the 300.

A custom job can be done... It shouldn't be overwhelmingly difficult provided you have the tools neccessary. The plumbing would be a chore.

There's a few pictures of a turbo 300 around somewhere...

Question 250Ci Ford Inline six - turbo application

Hi, Here in Australia our pickups are smaller insize, mine a 1980 model originally had an alloy head EFI 250ci Six, it now has a 1970 iron head 250ci similar to many US vehicle like the mustang sixes. Ah sweet six music!

What is a less complex way of turning it into a reasonable boost turbo engine (5-10Pounds of Boost) Should I go something like a AR T04 and use a blow through configuration or suck through?
Any help much appreciated

I made my own intake, and used a Turbo off a Nissan 300ZX, and a Quadrajet carb. Has worked great so far, I only run about 6 lbs of boost, but that seems to be enough.
This 300 is in a E350 4x4 van, so it is a lot of weight. I just pulled a Ford tractor with a large trailer, about 10,000 lbs 200 miles with no problems, and plenty of pulling power.

Talking

Well... I am not so quick to judge, but you are right it is more complicated than many believe (not rocket science BUT complicated). I am still in the planning stages but it will be done! There are many calculators and software tools on the internet, but there are a couple that I have discovered to be incorrect (at least pertaining to the calculations I was performing for the I6). My dream would be to use an OEM turbo off of another car, but alas I have yet to find one that would yield any efficiency whatsoever. Anyway, once someone has truly performed this upgrade the way it should be done details will hopefully be widely distributed. Until then I will continue planning until I am 100% certain of peak efficiency and then perform the task (however I see several months of waiting in my future until the budget levels out after the baby). When I am finished you can rest assured everyone will have the details at their disposal. Right now I would just like to find a professional that I could run my figures by just to see if I am on the right track (I don't mind being a guinea pig but I would like the piece of mind that comes with a professional opinion). I've emailed SEVERAL turbo shops and have yet to get an answer to ANY of my detailed questions. Good luck to all!

I could of swore there was someone on here that was an official turbo guy that had done this and had posted about it.

Am I wrong, or just delusional from a long day?

I may be full of it, but I did put the Nissan turbo on my 300 inline, and have approximately 20,000 trouble free miles on the setup. And they were'nt easy miles, towed a 4400D tractor 200 miles under boost most the way.
I sent someone on this sight pics, I will see if I can find them again.

Pic's would be great. In the mean time, could you expand a bit on how you did it?

I used the stock exhaust manifold, just modified the connection point, so I could weld 3" weld-el fittings to a flange which unbolts from the exhaust manifold, and ran this to a T3 flange, which bolted to the turbo. I also used the stock intake manifold, just port matched everything, and ran a 2" tube from the turbo to the carb flange on the intake. I made a intake manifold out of 1/8" steel, and mounted a Quadrajet carb on it, for a draw thru system.
My honest opinion on the system, is it runs great, and once tuned has been trouble free for two years. I can tell I'm starving for air, anything above 3500 RPM, but I have no turbo lag in the lower RPM range. My rig is very heavy(7500 lbs), so I am going to convert to diesel(just picked up a 7.3). But, I will be putting my 300 turbo set up in a F150 when I find one.
If anyone is in the Grand Rapids, Mi. area, I would be happy to show you the setup.
