With regards to the turbo with a carb setup, Does the turbo feed into the top of the carb and force air through it? If not, how does the system go together? And what kind of tuning is required to the carb?
E350 - there has been a fair amount of discussion about building a turbo for the 300, but I can only think of one other individual who said he had actually done it. A few guys have said they are in the process.
I, for one, am interested in listening to anybody who has actually built and run one for 20K miles.
As for the subject being "beaten to death" - there are a few subjects that I occaisionally tire of hearing about. I usually don't read them or respond to them. It depends on my mood.
Broncr,
I have posted top view pictures of my setup in my gallery. You can see the manifold I made, and how it feeds into the Turbo. I used a Quadrajet carb, due to the fact it's secondarys are "on demand" with air flow, rather than vacuum or mechanical. The carb and manifold had to sit so high on the engine, because of the limited space in the vans engine compartment. Dont let the exterior of the manifold fool you, I ground all the welds smooth, and polished the interior for better flow. You can see the wrapped exhaust pipe coming up the back, and entering the turbo.
TRW, they came in a engine kit, I got thru Jegs, for $400.00. And they were .030 oversize from stock. I used the stock configuration, dished type pistons. I'm only running 7 psi max., so the stock 8:1 compression wasn't a problem.
