De-smogging an EFI 460

The only things you cant touch are the Map sensor, TPS, O2, ECT. I took everything from the smog pump, Cat, EGR, EVAP. off on my 93 with no problems, except the check engine light on all the time. The engine runs smooth and gets good mileage. IT really makes the engine a breeze to work on. Also less to go wrong.

Too bad Slug. Leeland, I'm not sure what you are asking, but my 77/460, dont seem to notice when I turn the A.C. on. So undoing the A.C. belt wouldnt help me very much.
As far as the Emissions stuff goes, if your running on the street and the emissions stuff is working, you cant make it better by pulling anything off. It runs the way the Ford experts meant it to run. They had a R. & D. lab for testing so they always came up with the best of two worlds.
I dont know much about 'off road' stuff. It'd seem to me that you want big low end power and very good throttle response for crawling around in the rocks and mud.
That's exactly what a good F.I. would deliver. As opposed to the carb which always has that little 'spurt' at the crack of the throttle.
The 'Spurt' that causes the wheels to break loose when you really wanted the carefull and controlled throttle response.
If that engine is running good, dont mess with it.
