If it's such a bad idea to delete it then why don't you hear anyone talk about adding it? Does the rad cooler really contribute that much cooling when a 6.0 cooler is being used? Like I said, I can't make my 2000 overheat. I'm also not backing a 20k gooseneck up a mountain. A rad cooler just seems like another way to potentially introduce another fluid (atf) into the cooling system.

back when your truck was new so many so many people were talking about the issue-problem Ford issued a TSB and replaced the radiator at no charge if you brought it in to the dealer. Not talked about much anymore because many or most were fixed at the dealer back in 2000

Every time I see a '99 owner talk about needed a radiator I hear multiple suggestions that they upgrade to one with the trans cooler in it and use it.

That's how I mounted many years ago the 6.0 AT cooler in my E99 since that is how it was meant to be installed, however it is interesting how the connectors are at the top in the 7.3 and V10 At coolers in the photo.

Of the length of time that I have owned a Super Duty (2001) I have never heard of any issue with trans fluid entering the cooling system...not once.

I can tell you what doesn't work is a 7.3 oil/air cooler with the radiator portion bypassed.
My EX was this way when i bought it and it would hit 250F pulling a 6x12 enclosed trailer.
Plumbed the rad cooler back inline and now 50 deg cooler on average once up to temp.
The added capacity is in coolant volume pulling heat away better than just air, but I dont doubt a 6.0 cooler has plenty of surface area to cool all by itself
