Trans cooler lines

Hi, I have an 05 F-350 with 226000 miles. I noticed yesterday that my trans cooler lines going into the bottom of the radiator are leaking antifreeze at the unions. It should have an external cooler right? Why do they go into the radiator as well? My question is, do those two fittings screw into the radiator, then the lines fit on with the plastic connectors? I'm afraid they are permanently fixed into the radiator and i'll have to buy a new one. Thanks in advance

It goes into the radiator to cool the ATF. The air to oil cooler out front isn't enough in all circumstances.

Then maybe the antifreeze is coming from somewhere other than port screwed into the radiator? Thanks

The ATF cooler in the radiator is immersed in engine coolant. It's possible that the coolant is leaking there, but it is also possible that it is leaking somewhere else and ending up on the fittings.
