97 4X4 performance question

97 4X4 performance question

I bought my truck last Fall and love it but just started using 4wd with winter weather. When I back out of my driveway in 4WD the truck bogs down when I'm turning. Does the same thing when slowly going forward making a turn. It's fine when in 2wd. I'm not too mechanically minded and need advice on what to check.

when you are on dry pavement and have the wheels locked together, something has to GIVE... normally it is poor turning, jerky, bogging down as you said......... I had a 2002 with LS rear and when you put it in 4 x 4 it was like herding elephants on a dry road when turning............. try it in the gravel or in the grass and should be OK........... don't put in 4 x 4 on DRY pavement.

Thanks, Steve. I just wanted to confirm that there was nothing wrong and that it's a normal occurrence.

Well it's normal for your driveline to bind up when subjected to the ABNORMAL practice of running 4x4 on hard surfaces. You should NOT be in 4x4 on hard surfaces. You will break something sooner or later. Not too much later.
