4X4 problem

I have a 2003 F250 4X4 with a 7.3.Any time when I'm in 4X4 and make a sharp turn in either direction the front wheels grab real bad.Ford tell me this is normal but I've never had any of my other 4X4 vehicles do this.Has anyone else had this problem?

1olddog2 is correct. It's normal on dry pavement. I've owned 2 other 4wd vehicles (one Ford and one Chevy), and both did the same thing with 4wd engaged.

I would never use my 4X4 on dry pavement as I've been a 4wheeler for many years. My truck will do that in soft sand and I've owned 4 other trucks and never had one to do that

In addition to the normal 4x4 problems in sharp turns, the Ford also puts the halfshaft angle past the position where the u-joint can operate smoothly. So a lot of the jerking/bucking you feel is just the physics of a tightly-angled u-joint binding. So yes it's normal, but I sure would try to minimize how much I did it. (Don't turn quite so sharply.) I was told when I asked 2005 owners that even though the new suspension turns far tighter, it does *not* have problems like this (or worse) at the extremes. I don't know how you get around the physics of a u-joint. Maybe by using much bigger ones? I expected them to be using CV joints or double-u-joints but it's just the same old setup in there.

Welcome to the site!

I think the issues mentioned by Frobozz are compounded by the extra "traction" that comes from the weight of the PSD. That weight makes it even harder for the tires to slip & release 'bindage'. Still, you might hit the used truck lots and drive some other vehicles to see if your situation is truly normal or if there is something wrong.
