Hey fellas, I just bought a factory headlight switch with the fog light switch to add to my Ex that didn’t have dogs to begin with. I’m Not putting on factory fogs but want to use the switch to activate my LED cubes that are in the factory fog location.
My question is, if I were to buy a factory harness for the fogs where does it plug into in the main harness or the power distribution box for power etc? I’m thinking I may not need the harness if I can tap into that circuit assuming it has the wires coming from the switch assembly......to at least activate a relay....
Post #26 on page one of my "PIC HEAVY" thread I did just that, added the factory fog light equipped headlight switch, and added factory fogs.
My 2001 dash harness was partially wired for fogs, but the there was no wiring within the body harness, and the bumper harness was not there.
I had to add wiring in their respective locations in each firewall plug, add fuses, and or relays in the fuse box where they belonged, and the fog bumper harness that you are inquiring about.
My point of connection where I soldered the voltage feed for the fogs allows them to be on regardless of your high beam setting, for the fogs to cancel when the high beams are on, the voltage feed needs to be tied in with the low beam feed instead.
You're going to need a shop manual (wiring diagrams) if your year is not a 2001, otherwise you may be able to copy what I've done.
It's really not that bad of an add-on.
Very nice, that’s pretty much what I needed. I think I may go ahead and buy the harness to use since it will tie into the factory wiring etc and modify it to stay on with the high beams.
