I've started the process of flushing the cooling system on my engine (2006 F350 6.0) and have been reading up on coolants. Lots of info on this forum and the net (enough to make your hair fall out ) I got the Fix-UR-6 installed today and will start the flushing tomorrow. I was looking to see how Deere Cool Guard II rates against the rest because I use it in my tractors and 1 type of coolant makes it easy to keep extra. I found this article: https://www.constructionequipment.co...s-over-nitrite
I'm going to try the Deere coolant.
I travel alot so I run Rotella ELC (red coolant). It is available at Tractor Supply in concentrate and I've seen premixed in Walmart. Those two stores seem to be everywhere I go so coolant is available. It paid off this summer when I lost a coolant hose.
The John Deere I don't know about.
The deere coolant is fine. Its is compatible with the rest of the heavy duty ELC coolants should a emergency arise.
Is Cool-Gard™ II compatible with other brands and types of coolant in the market place?
Yes, Cool-Gard II is compatible with other coolants in the marketplace. Although we do not recommend mixing of other coolants with Cool-Gard II, as part of our due diligence, we have performed compatibility testing against other heavy duty diesel coolants representing a spectrum of formulation strategies, including Caterpillar ELC, Detroit DieselPowerCool and PowerCool Plus, and Cummins ES Complete and Cummins Optimax. Using standardized ASTM test procedures, Cool-Gard II was mixed at 3:1, 1:1, & 1:3 ratios and subjected to ASTM 1384 and ASTM 4340 test procedures. All of these mixtures did pass these two corrosion tests.
