Engine swap
Hey how are you all? I have a 59 ford f100 and it has a inline 6 300 in it how hard would it be to drop the 302 in it what would I have to change or would it slide right in with new motor mounts installed

You would need new motor mounts and engine perches. Bell housing pattern between the 300 and SBF is the same but the 300 shares engine perch configuration with the FE 332/352/360/390 family of engines.

Also you will need the V8 flywheel or flex plate with the correct balance for the year it is.

If it has a 300 I-6, it was swapped in. It wasn't available until 1965.
1954/64 would have a 223 I-6, the intake/exhaust manifolds are located on the left (drivers) side.
240/300 I-6 intake/exhaust manifolds are located on the right (passenger) side.
240/300 mount completely different than the 223.

What I'm saying is, if your truck has a 300, it was swapped in. 300 was not available until 1965.
See post #5 for the difference between a 223 I-6 that would have been original and the 300.
