Working on getting my 56 F100 back on the road. I'm in the process of replacing the rear wheel bearings and seals along with pulling the pumpkin. I see the outside gasket for sale, but I don't see anything for the smaller center part. Does this require a paper gasket or will liquid gasket work?
Here is a picture of my 56. I've been a member for awhile with several F100's that have since been sold, but this one is for keeps.
I will also add that typically, unless you're doing a full 3rd member rebuild of the ring and pinion gears, bearings, etc., that is not taken apart there as it is not necessary. You can drop the pumpkin and clean everything real good and put it back together. Be sure to use the soft copper washers that go under the 3rd member retaining nuts. It's something many people will overlook and have oil leaks from around the studs/nuts.
