so for quite a while I’ve been tuneing and adjusting the Edelbrock 8867 on my 390 FE just recently I got it sounding just right idles good and sounded great when reving in netural. But when I took it for a drive it bogs down at the beginning of each gear excluding the granny first and reverse. Almost sounds like it starts missing hard at the beginning of 3rd and 4th especially any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Is it still points ignition? Does the vacuum advance work? Is the distributor really old? This could be a problem with the upper bushing in the distributor causing the points gap to vary widely, especially when you first get on it, which causes the vacuum advance to kick in.
