I had the Headlight Revolution V.3? LED’s. My issues were the flicker and go out so they sent me the canbus box, I swear it was a huge mess getting all that in there. They still had a small flicker at times and I had major condensation inside the headlight housing. All this added up to me swearing off the LED. Maybe now there are better LED options? This was late fall 2017, I see they now have a V4 improved version. I just want plug and play without all the issues. That is why I was leaning towards Halogen but it appears thats a constant battle keeping them from burning out.
What I've found over the years with halogens, the whiter they are, the hotter the get, the shorter the life span. Manufacturers have tried all different types of coatings on halogens that only seem to reduce light output.
Back when halogens took the place of incandescent, they looked really white. Now, with HIDs and LEDs, halogens look yellow. Funny how perception changes... I went with Beamtech LEDs because I didn't want to be constantly replacing bulbs. Good luck with your search.
Is there an easy way to get to the blubs for replacement or do you need to remove the grill?
You can remove the grille. But the faster way is to remove the filler neck for the washer tank on the driver side and the snorkel for the air breather on the passenger side.
First time I did it I removed the grille. Then I discovered the other method on this forum somewhere. Much faster.
I did quite a bit of research on the best halogen H13/9008 bulb and ended up with the Philips X-tremeVison units. While not a stellar improvement, they are much better than the OEMs. I don't do a lot of night driving so cannot comment on their life.I would recommend these if you're not going LED.
