Did a search and didnt find much. Looking to replace the ugly yellow headlight bulbs on my 19 F250. Do NOT want LED, did that on my 17 and had too many issues. Anybody try the Silverstars or Xenon from Sylvania? Any suggestions or real world experience appreciated.
By the time you pay for the fancy bulbs....just get the beamtech LED... I got all 4 for under $50.... And they just plain work. Tons of bright white light
I’ve used the Ultra’s; the light is a little whiter, but didn’t provide much additional sight either distance or width. Biggest downside was they burned out within a year.
I just put led’s in my 2011 and 2006 F350’s; huge improvement. Simple plug and play. Put leds in my reverse lights too; also significantly better.
Wanted to replace the oem bulbs in a 2013 Taurus that has the projector housing headlights. Evidently led’s don’t work well in those, and the ultrawhite halogens have too short if a life for me, so I just used new halogen bulbs.
You say you didn’t have a good experience with previous led’s. If you haven’t done so already, adjust the aim of your headlights in case that is causing poor lighting. I adjusted my 2011 headlights down a bit after driving with them for seven years and there was a noticeable improvement with the oem halogen bulbs.

What your trying to get rid of (yellow) is only obtainable with LED's. And thats why the majority here has made the switch. You could go to an entire headlamp assembly replacement, some include HID's, etc.
Im glad some have had success with the LED but its a luck of the draw, they will either work or they will need the canbus adapters, even then mine had a glitch. If it can go wrong it will be mine but I lived in the front end of my truck for a week swapping bulbs in and out, I have no interest in the LED. Also I feel like they are way too bright for the housing and you blind people. I had even aimed them down and was told I was burning peoples retinas out, lol.
The big issue with replacement halogens seems to be the longevity of the bulb. Ive been reading and most say you wont get a year out of the Ultras. Maybe I just need to leave it alone and live with it.
I put Silverstar Ultras in my Ram about a year ago, both the 9007 headlights and 9006 fog lights. Noticeable difference in color (much whiter), improved throw in complete darkness (plenty of unlit streets and highways out here in the sticks). Since I don't drive much at the moment, the reduced bulb life wasn't a concern, but if you're out every night, that will become an expense.
In my 2005 Sd, I used PIAA Extreme H13s and 9005 (high beam) in my fog lights. They worked well and lasted for 6 years. I did have one high beam bulb go out and cause me issues, but in the defence of the PIAA Extremes I was running a bright box which allowed both low and high beam filaments to be lit up WITH the driving lights. PIAA are nice and bright white, not yellow at all. They are more expensive than the LEDs folks on here are talking about.
BTW, you can now do this brute box with Bambi mode and Forscan, it will allow all 4low beams and the driving lights to be on, and the driving lights to stay on with the 4 high beam filaments.(I don’t know you can have all 8 filaments in the H13 on at once though, as the wiring not set up right, the brute box uses a dual feed from each battery per side)
I do not yet have my truck so Q: what type of bulb is in the upper and what type of bulb is in the lower, are they H/L [upper], H/L [lower] or H/L [upper], L [lower]? ...or some other combination? Thanks.

Hid's man. Even tho its a halogen projector, they'll work great in it. I threw some in the 4runner and it's a huge difference.
