Last Friday afternoon when I started to head home a message came onto the screen that Adaptive steering needed service and the steering wheel was about 20 degrees off to the right. Called my son-in-law, the service manager at Hight Ford. This Friday he picked up and had a mechanic check it out. Evidently there is an electric motor in the steering column and it had froze. The solution is to replace the upper steering column. Truck is a 2017 F350 King Ranch dually with 17000 miles. Good to have a warranty but this could suck when it is out of warranty. The truck steers fine and the steering column is ordered.
I used to be adamantly against extended warrantys, but now adays if you are going to keep a vehicle passed the warranty period, they totally make sense. With the cost of repairs on these new vehicles having shot to the moon, most are totally woth it. Hell if your AC goes out it will generally pay for itself with that one use, let alone AC and 5 other things that take a dump.
I think the extended warranty is a waste of money. My last 7 ford truck would never have used it. I have never had a major problem that wasn’t covered by the motor or power train coverage from ford. I usually only keep them for around 80,000 miles.
But if it helps you sleep better then give them your cash. Just know that the warranty company figures out a price that on average they come out ahead.

great episode is the Simpson's has homer saying, " I always get the extended warranty!" I agree totally on not getting one. I know it helps people sleep better, but also enriches warranty companies. Why else do I get swamped with warranty offers? They are not losing money doing this
I had this happen a few times intermittently. Then my truck died and I replaced both batteries. Hasn’t happened since . ‘17 250, 6.7L.
Others stated bad batteries were also to blame on this
