I recently bought some sound-deadening material. I was originally going to do the doors but I'm having second thoughts. Is it a waste of material? What do you suggest I spent my time and materials on to be the most effective? It's a 78 crew cab. I was considering doing the roof and doors but may skip the doors and do the roof and floor pan for now. Bought this stuff after doing homework. Seems to be a very well-made material.
Make sure your door/window seals are reasonably new. This will take a lot of noise out of the ride. If you are going to use sound deadener, then use it everywhere possible. Finally, use a DB Meter app on your smart phone if you have it. Take before and after readings to see how much noise was eliminated. Good luck with your project.
Please take a look at this https://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ The material you purchased is primarily for reducing vibration and resonance, so use it in that manner.
Agree that you should still do the doors. Have not checked out march's link yet, but the doors do have their noise effect on the inside. Even Ford sprayed a bit of deadener on the panels inside. Haphazardly and hit-or-miss sometimes, but that they started using it says something.
And in a Crew Cab with four doors? Even more important I would think!
Agree with the seals and stuff too. The largest difference I made in the interior noise in my '79 (standard cab) was replacing the old rear slider!
Let us know how you like the stuff too. Lots of us are doing what we can to quiet our rigs, so lots of discussions that you would be able to add your results to.

Yes; please look at Sound Deadener Showdown for all the sound deadening advice you need. I went with that option, though the installation is still incomplete. Don is a great guy to deal with and very helpful, he's the best guy to ask for advice and has astoundingly reasonable prices for the quality of product he offers. Please don't be disappointed in inferior products before spending more time doing research at his site.
For those who live and drive in immoderate environs, think also about how these materials prevent the loss of heating and cooling. Get as much bang for the buck as possible.
Well that was another reason why I bought this product.
on another note it seems like this stuff is impossible to get back off. I did see that dry ice and alcohol works. Are all of them a nightmare to take back off?
