Hi guys! I've been searching here for over an hour and can't seem to be able to come up with a good answer. I am trying to get less road and exhaust noise in the cab of my 2003 f-250. The only thing that everyone seems to agree on is that dynamat is over priced. Some say to use raamat, others say to use some kind of foil tape, and a few people even say to use roof underlayment..... like this:
most of my noise at this time comes from my passenger floor and the back of my cab because of my exhaust(not stock by any means). the doors are already taken care of and i was wondering what was the best for the floor and back of the cab since it's such a large area.
thanks!
Do not use roof underlayment or any other tar based product. You will hate the odor, especially when it is hot hot outside. Use something like raammat or dynamat, but it has to be in 2the layers. The first in the stuff that looks like foil, only thicker. Put this on large flat areas directly on the metal. Plan on about 75% coverage. This will help prevent resonating sounds. Then put the foam product in top. This should have 100% coverage. This will absorb sound waves.
Like previously stated, start with the doors and maybe the back wall first. If that doesn't get you what you want, and budget allows, take out the interior and do the floor board.
