OK Ladies and Gentlemen......
I have a 1989 F350 DRW, 460 engine (Gas). The E4OD is FRIED.....
Trans line broke and drained fluid, before I knew it I wasn't moving and smoke everywhere. Disassembled tranny. many internal parts are welded together or discolored from heat.....
NOW HERE IS THE BIG Question:
I am heading to Salvage yard. Not many Big Block trannys out there.
Will the internal parts from a small block tranny interchange with my Big Block tranny? The Big Block Case is fine. No cracks or distortion. I will be changing clutches and steels....
Any STRAIGHT FORWARD answers would be appreciated. I have looked at several sites and it appears that the internals are interchangeable, but I just want verification.
Honestly don’t try to fix the 89, that was the first version of the e4od and had lots of problems, Ford did a ton of upgrades over the years and your better off using a trans from a 95 and up big block, these will have all the updates done, stronger internals and save you a ton on changing parts.
