In at one of the Ford dealers here and was asking about some accessories. I asked him if they could change the TPMS values for me so I could run a lower pressure...."no, Ford let us do that until 16 and after that it won't let us change it." He then said that, (on his own) "With the Death Wobble issue, Ford is not allowing us to make a lot of changes." Me, 'I thought the TSB addressed that with some of the front end components?' "We have tried everything here and everytime it was attributed to the Goodyear Wranglers after 15000 miles. After we put Michelins on the customers vehicles, they never came back with it again. I see you don't have the Wranglers?" Me, ' I put on the Nokians for the winter, the Wranglers are in the bed". "Yeah, probably want to go with Michelins after the winter".........interesting......thoughts?
Ask in the Death Wobble thread. Someone started a spreadsheet for cataloging and looking for similarities. Maybe he could add a "tire type/brand" column?
37k on my ford issued wranglers - no issues. Even wear, keep em rotated, quiet and smooth. I’ve been impressed really...although I wouldn’t buy them, they've been a good tire to start with.
If I followed some of the posters correctly there is quite a range of tire pressures that 'are allowed' before the TPMS alarm sounds...and if I am not mistaken, the tire pressures still show on the screen for monitoring by the driver (I do not yet have my truck so cannot speak from experience)...and the pressures stated change color, I believe, when 'out of range'?...can anybody please confirm?? Thank you.
Yes, they change colours and alarm according tot he thresholds set using Forscan. The problem is the rears. My truck says 50psi front, 80 rear. I changed to 50/50 on the TPMS because I like to run 60 all the way around, unless loaded or towing. Even though set at 60 psi, with some driving they all go up to 65 or 67 psi wither driving. The settings are cold settings. I find for proper wear, they have to be this low or your wearing only the space tire of the tire.
41,000 km on the GY Kevlars and swapped out for new GY Duratracs. No death wobble as yet.
the new tires ride really nice, and grippy for the winter.
i think your dealer needs to do some reading on death wobble, it’s a combination of tires, alignment spec, shocks, steering damper. Any one issue and usually pretty easy to diagnose, multiple smaller issues in combination much more difficult.
