Make sure you have a good battery, my 2014 Escape did the same thing and the battery was bad. The thing is it would still start the car. I think needs to see a certain voltage or it turns its self off. I replaced the battery and it has been good since and that was six months ago.

I've had this happen twice on my '13. Both times I disconnected both batteries. After posting that someone mentioned to pull the fuse. Haven't gone the fuse route yet but makes sense it would do the same thing - it's a Microsoft O/S, needs to be rebooted occasionally.
