02 Excursion 7.3 4x4

Money is not necessarily an issue here. I put more than 75K a year on my work trucks and that is why I bought this tank.

I have already put a CAI and Turbo back exhaust. Per another member's recommendation, I am adding:

-https://www.dieselsite.com/19995-2003ford73lpsdwastegatecontroller.aspx
- https://www.dieselsite.com/1999-2004...variation=1115

Looking for any other bolt on/under the hood upgrades for a 7.3L. I am new to diesel, but looking for to 300-400K more miles out of this truck. (At 145k now)
Looking for a tuner, fuel economy is my primary focus at this time. (Tried SCT )
Looking for brake upgrades. Stick to OEM? Or is there something better that makes sense?

Explore the site and look at the tech folders. Most of your questions and needs will be answered. I'd use Riff Raff Diesel as a benchmark for aftermarket products. I'd look closely at the brakes, suspension, tires and steering gear. Get the "bones" right first... is what I'd recommend.

Basic reliability upgrades are
Exhaust
Intake
Tuner
Tranny cooler
Tires and wheels

After that... money fixes everything.

Getting high milage out of the 7.3 requires 2 basic things.

3000 mile oil and filter changes using only oil that meets ford’s spec WSS-M2C171-F1

and keeping dirt out of the engine by using a Donaldson/Ford AIS filteration system.

if your CAI uses a oiled gauze filter I’d throw it in the trash and get the AIS

riffraff price is much better then the ford dealer

https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/motor...fe-filter-kit/

other then that that keep up on the maintaince of stuff like rebuilding the fuel pressure regulator and IPR every 100k
Injectors as needed but expect 200k before rebuilding them, stay on top of o-rings to prevent leaks and the 7.3 will last a long time.

Oh and tunes, PHP hydra is the current cool guy setup but I would’nt hold my breath on the mythical increased milage, tuners are for increasing HP which takes more fuel, better milage is acheighed by your right foot.

Why is the FORD recommendation 5,000 miles?
