Air filter differences...

Ok, What's the difference. I've dealt with Oilguard (FTE sponsor), for oil and fuel filters, but Filter1 dot com also sells filters for our 6.0's. And, orders of mutliple items more than $50 total qualify for free shipping. -The whole order.

30,000 mile service on my 04'. I was going to order from Oilguard:

6 pack of Ford Powerstroke 6.0L Full Flow Oil Filter Elements ( $11ea. Shipping Included)
Code: EPS-2016-6 Price: $66.00

Replacement fuel filter elements kits for 6.0L Ford Powerstroke engine
Code: PF-F4604 Price: $40.00
Ford Powerstroke 6.0L Air Filter
Code: EPS-AF1646 Price: $64.00
---------
$170 But there's only free shipping on the oil filters. The air filter ships at 8 pounds. So I figure that I'm in for at least $185.

Now, from Filter1 dot com,
Oil Wix-57314 13.19 X6= 79.14
Fuel 33599 37.91 = 37.91
Air 42731 38.68 = 38.68
-----
Total 155.73 With free shipping!!!

So, what's the difference between Oilguard's Ford Powerstroke 6.0L Air Filter and the Wix http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...p?PartNo=42731 ?

I don't know about you, but quite possibly more than a $30 savings, gets my attention. Heck, that's a good bottle of Rum!

The Wix air filters that i have for the 6.0 PSD are made by Power Core (the original manufacture) and just put in Wix boxes. I have purchased these from Filter 1. You can also check with "FleetFilter.com" as they are Wix distributors as well.
Oil Guard is a site sponser and you have done business with them in the past. Why not call Oil Guard and ask them about the price difference, maybe they can get close to Filter1 or FleetFilter price.

Good luck

I'll take a look at FleetFilter.

I would rather support a site sponsor. It's the least I can do since I'm not a site supporter myself. I have also purchased directly from MotorHaven. I did email Oilguard, and got the response for the free shipping on x6 oil filters, but no free shipping for the fuel/air filters.

Is there a difference in the filters though? The WIX looks like it has a foam entrance but a hollow core paper element. The Oilguard appears to be more like the stock Donaldson filter.

Well unless wix has changed them and started making there own, the last one i got had Donaldson Powercore with part#603577 stamped on it. I haven't purchased one for about 8 months however so don't know if Wix changed them. Call or email wix or Filter 1 and ask them.

And yes i prefer to support sponsers of this site, but there prices & service must be in the ball park of others.

Good luck.

BTW FleetFilter.com is also a site sponser

Wix air filter part# 42731 is $33.74 from them.
Wix Fuel filter Part#33599 is $33.07
Wix oil filter Part# 57314 is $11.50 ea = $69.00 per case.

Don't know shipping charges, could always order oil filters from Oil Guard and air and fuel from FleetFilter.
