Good deal?
* Detailed the old truck and took it to Carmax for an offer.
* Using Costco membership, went to Ford online and picked options I liked. The same or next day, the Ford internet sales department called me about buying a truck.
* Once dealer had something worth looking at, I negotiated my deal and "Slayed the Dragon". By this I mean Ford made me a trade in offer but I made them match the Carmax offer (still valid) and I lined up my own financing outside of Ford so they had to bend over backwards to match it. Let's say the sales guy didn't like me because I was prepared.
Dealerships sell in volume, so the smart consumer gets the better deal. Don't fall for the after-the-fact options either because it's unnecessary. Your NEW truck comes with a great warranty from the manufacturer. Why pay $500 for a 3rd party warranty with exclusions? You can get your own gap insurance for less than $100 a year. Why pay the dealership $500 for the same thing? Super duper clear coat (wax) for that new ride only $500?! What a steal! Only $10-20 more per month with dealership financing! Well that makes it ok then. Hope the sarcasm wasn't too thick here. (LOL)
In the end, I got a new 2017 XLT with options for about $10K off MSRP.
Good Luck!

Thanks, guys. Wife has a close friend from way back who's a sales manager (also the special order guy) at another dealership, so we tried there. Through a couple of emails and a nice phone call, we ate into some holdback and made an out-the-door deal that puts me w/ Texas TT&L and doc fee for around invoice. Current rebates will be locked in, but I'll be picking the truck up in March (Ford Truck Month) and if incentives are higher then, which he expects, I'll get those. I might have been able to eek out a few more bucks somewhere else, but they wouldn't have been able to beat the customer service. Plus, I have the $750 EAA PCO in-hand, but working on a better PCO through Farm Bureau. Of course, I'm trying to shake the $3k Ford PCO tree too- so I'll add the largest PCO I can get on top of the current deal. And while I'm not a big proponent of doing business with friends or family, I do enjoy making a deal where we both believe we got a fair deal. I always have my own financing, but we'll see what Ford is offering at the time to see if it's worth taking theirs. This is my first special order so I'm stoked to get into as perfect of a truck as I can configure for my needs. Now just need Ford to pick the order up on Thursday.
Thanks again for the comments and suggestions.
