Looking to replace the springs on my '02 X and have found some springs from SD Truck Springs that are less expensive, any one tried these and are they going to last? Thanks,
Everyone is going to recommend ATS Springs including me. I have X and Modified C codes on my Excursion and everything I needed was shipped to me on a pallet ready to go. Call them and ask for Junior and he will set you up with everything you need. SD springs are cheap but you don’t want to skimp on your springs.
Yes people have tried them and no they do not last, but then again no springs last because they are a consumable wear item. All springs sag with use and time.
Are you wanting to replace the stock springs both front and rear ?
what ride height do have now and what ride height do you want ?
is price more important then quality ?
Answer those questions and I’ll recommend a suitable replacement
I used SD springs for my lift removal (lowered it down 4in) and was not happy with their shipping quotes. The order didn't arrive on time and caused a major headache in prepping my rig for a 10-day vacation out of state. Will not be buying from them again. As for their products, I haven't had a problem with any specific item that I've ordered. In fact, I will be removing their springs again and ordering another set to drop it down even lower. My rig still sits too high for my liking, so I'm going to be repeating all of the same work once it warms back up again.
Plenty of Tremor take-offs out there for your choice of weight. I got a set easily off FB Marketplace. If you don't use FB then so be it.
Reports say they will add somewhere in the range of 1" at best. Some report less overall height added, maybe .5" added.
1. Nice 7yr old thread revival
2. 2008+ trucks have different rear leaf springs from 1999-2007 rigs. The don't fit without modification, ~8' longer than previous years. Specifically requires remounting the front perch or buying a specially made new front perch. The 08+ leafs also tend to rip out the HVAC lines on the passenger side, which is why this never really became a popular conversion.
3. 2005+ 4x4 trucks have coil springs up front vice leaf springs on the 99-04's.
You cannot use Tremor take-offs on the Excursion. At least not without converting the front suspension to a radius arm/coil spring axle. And the rear axle front leaf mount perch conversion.

Ahhhhh....scrolling too far past the post I was replying to, to end up in a "Related Thread" area. Crazy how these forums work these days.
Call Junior at ATS Springs in PA. I already had the RAS, so he suggested his B codes for the rear. He could have told me junk the RAS and just go with their C codes, but he didn’t and saved me some money. (Only one of the springs arrived at my doorstep, so immediately they sent out another one with a return label when the original order shows up).
I screwed up on torquing the long bolts. Junior sent me new set, free of charge.
Amazing!
For the front he suggested the Ford Motorcraft Z codes, since I have a 2WD. He got nothing out of that transaction, but a very satisfied customer.
Later I installed some air bags. Now I can adjust the rear height both unloaded and loaded.
Call Junior!
