Morning Everyone! How’s your weekend? Well found out interesting news on the newly acquired F700 we have. For some dumb reason the State of Minnesota will NOT register the truck for less than 21,000 which now means you would need a minimum of a class B license to drive it. Even though we (by we I mean me and dad) wont be using it for anything remotely close to commercial. Also, an interesting note that only an authorized shop can make the alteration to the truck. We want to shorten the truck up to 10ft and put a flat bed on it.
Also of note Allstate wont insure the truck. Which means now we have to go hunting for liability only insurance.
I just got progressive insurance on my f700 today. Personal use commercial grade, was cheap and easy to get...1hr12.59 minutes on phone though
Could you share here your insurance specs pertaining to coverage amounts, monthly price, age criteria, etc?
I just found a great deal on older 1997 f700 id like to install a pre built shed on and convert to a heavy duty "MOBILE HE SHED" RV CAMPER *(ALSO WANNA TRADEMARK TO BUILD LATER COMMERCIALLY)*
What do you guys think about this idea?
So what did the personal use commercial grade policy run?
my normal insurance state farm would not insure my 1981 l900 ,on the 12 day after I ask about insuring my fire truck ,they said they would insure to get it home .the state DMV told me my current pickup insurance policy would work for registration.the state gave me a #15000 non-commercial plate ,and I had to get a DOT. I had a insurance broker find me insurance at progressive for under $700 a year .progressive raised the insurance when the found my DOT number .my insurance broker did my application and stated I did not have a DOT number .progressive wanted to up my insurance to $2300 ,I told them I don't drive the truck any where .they offered me a $850 policy if I stayed with in 50 miles of my house .
