USPS question ( Tseekins??)

Hi,

I'm just curious about this. I got two mail deliveries today -- and I'm in the boonies.

One was a priority mail package and the second was a few letters and another package delivery. First one (priority mail) came at noon and the others came at the normal time.

I'm guessing that the downtown post office delivered the first one because it was a one day priority ( I think). That's the standard ship method for the local medical supply outfit.

Can anybody confirm that assumption or offer another explanation

Thanks,

hj

That’s what they do - two separate deliveries. Got two deliveries myself this week. The priority driver goes around on Sundays too. I guess that’s one reason why the usps looses a few billion dollars each year.....

no, the USPS "looses a few billion dollars each year" because the fed government decided they need to pre pay the pension fund for every postal worker for the next 100 years.
before the fed got involved with the USPS it was a money making business.

and priority mail is delivered separate form normal delivery. that is why you got two deliveries. one priority , and then one from your regular letter carrier delivery.

LOL That's a myth, the pre-payment is not good but it's much much worse than that, few people realize how bad their finances are.

They are talking about letting private firms have access to mailboxes now. If they do that I'm taking the goddamn thing off the house. All they do is stuff garbage in it now, what could go wrong with letting everyone else do that too?

The PO was a government department for a long time and pretty famous for losing money -- new Postmaster Generals loved to redecorate their offices and other pork barrel stuff.

Then they decided that it would fund itself ( although I'm sure that it was more complicated than that). I believe that they lowered the pay scale for new employess with that move.

The Pension deal was real -- and a real kick in the teeth I guess. The other issue was all of the bills, letters, etc that moved to the interwebs.

So, they're trying. Rather than selling access to my mail box, I think that they should be allowed to more aggressively pursue delivery partnerships -- and charge enough to make a profit. I get a lot of packages that are transferred from private carriers to the PO for final delivery. Since they're out delivering every day I think that it's a good partnership. The private carriers are probably bettrer at long range transport ( I don't know that).

They should also get rid pf the Asian deal. For many years Asian countries ( now mainly China I guess) have been allowed to send (small?) packages to the US and the PO gets virtually nothing to deliver them. It started out as a way to help small countries, but seems to have gotten out of control. Trump made somew statement that he wanted to stop it, but who knows. There have been efforts to do that since Reagen from what I've heard.
