This is a pretty good article but it's really an apples to oranges comparo as the Jeep is a purpose built offroader.
A better comparison is with the GM twins and just for everyone's info, the Ranger and the twins are almost identical in size, perhaps a couple inches difference in WB or overall length. This is an apples to apples comparison.
I suspect that the Jeep is going to be the "first pickup" for a lot of city people, and will sell in fairly large numbers to pickup drivers who don't really need a pickup but want a cool new vehicle to "wear"... The Ranger will be a far more comfortable and useful daily driver, but the Jeep will have a huge advantage in "image".
