Interesting to see the charges for different options. What was the base price? Looks like there was a hefty upcharge for "heavy duty pkg" and what was "Dist Idel"?

Believe it is destination and delivery. same thing is written elsewhere with the same price. Base price is $1558.13 from factory dealer base was $1979.49
The HD is the spring rate 1250 lbs with 450 lb overloads think the cost was $6.50
3,300 lb. axle with 3.89:1 ratio was standard equipment on the 1964 F100.
Hm, in the manual A11 code sez 3.70? I noticed with 15" tires that translates to 4973 RPM at 60 mph, with the 3 speed. Seems high to me, but I guess that's correct?
I was only referring to the Standard Equipment on a 1964 F100 per the Salesmans Data Book for that year. Gobs of information in this particular publication.
The Ford 3-speed "Synchro-Silent" transmission was also Standard Equipment.
There were restrictions on what could be ordered as far as Optional Equipment. You couldn't get the 3.92:1 ratio with the 4-speed transmission in any engine choice. Only the 4.10:1 axle came with the 4-speed transmission.
I hope that helps clarify what I was saying. You can see how they had written
"October 31, 1963"
and then below that it says
"ordered
ax Ratio 392 to 1"
but it's been crossed out and on the right side it says
"V8 - 4-speed - 4.10 to 1"
That's because the 3.92:1 was not available with the 4-speed.

This is what I'm unclear about. A 3300 pound axle, with the HD springs and overload - with better wheels and tires a standard F100 could carry quite a bit more than half a ton of cargo, no? Maybe not ideal, but it would be doable, no?

I guess. This truck was ordered with 650 16 6 ply Firestone tires and wheels. Wish I still had the wheels but discarded them years ago I would possibly be interested in 4 if anyone knew of any.
