installed front disc brakes

installed front disc brake kit, blead the brakes around 7 times each wheel, no leaks any place, but if I let it set for awhile and then go back and hit the brakes pedal goes to the floor, then on the second pump I will get a good pedal. this is on a 65 F-100 4WD. Already had power drum brakes so I used the same booster and master cylinder, any ideas what's wrong!!! thank

Are the bleeders on the top of the calipers?

You using a single pot master? I don't think that's going to work very well with a disc/drum setup. Pressures are different, etc.

F100 4WD's didn't have self adjusting brakes until 1967.

Disk brakes take less pressure to operate than drum brakes. The master cylinder will be different in a disk/drum setup than it is in a drum/drum setup. The disk brakes have a larger piston and no springs like the drum brakes do. A master cylinder setup for disk/drum will have a built in metering block in combination with the proportioning valve. Another thing to try is to have residual valves in the brake lines. I bought some several years ago from Speedway Motors. They sell a 2 PSI residual valve for disk brakes and a 10 PSI residual valve for the drum brakes. The valves hold a bit of back pressure in the lines so your pedal does not go soft. It is a kind of a one way valve.

Did you use the valve on drum or disk?
Did you like them?
Thanks,

I used the drum valve. I have a dual master cylinder and used one on the brake line going to the front and the other to the rear line. Both are the 10 PSI valve. I have a 1964 F250 with a camper built onto the bed. It weighs a ton and is hard to get stopped. The residual valves really help with the dead pedal problems.

WoW! Excellent news.
Sounds like a plan for my 250.
If this helps with the pedal and, then for $30.00, way to go.
Thanks,

You need something like this to control the front rear pressure.
