Lol...
actually it doesn't smoke at all when I floor it... normally I'd think that's a good thing but since my truck has bad injectors and runs like crud sometimes I'd imagine it would smoke a little wouldn't it?
Good for you, I hate diesels that roll coal. It's totally pointless and pollution..............and no I am no tree hugger
I agree and it's just taking cans of diesel and dumping on the ground and lighting on fire.
To the OP.(OP Means Original Poster )
When every thing is running right you should get little or no smoke. ou might get a bit of haze but that is a good sign. Plus that unburned
fuel ends up cocking things up. The only time I ever got a cloud of smoke was when I wiped out a copper washer under an injector.
2003’s with their different camshaft and programming due tend to emit black smoke on hard acceleration. I'd always exercise the turbo crossing the last interchange on the way home.
Diesel engines can't run lean as they run a variable air/fuel ratio by design.
Oh, shows ya what I know about diesels. I had assumed that when the OP mentioned he had problems with injectors that maybe there wasn't enough fuel, somehow. But you know what they say about assumptions...
Yeah, I assumed since my injectors were having issues there would be lots of white or black smoke at any given time between startup and hard accel. But I get vertically no smoke while driving. And very little white smoke on start up.
I think I would get my latest 6.0L to smoke if I loaded the SRL tune from Matt with the Heracles FICM tune.
I know it would be really squirrely on wet pavement and for that matter even on dry set up that way.
This morning it was about 40 outside and on start up I got a mixture of white and black smoke. But nothing when driving. Well that's good to know it's doing alright. Thanks guys. And yeah it's completely stock.
When I hop on fwy mine will smoke at wot no prob, not like my 7.3 but is noticeable. I did notice however that when I pass a Prious it does smoke a bit more.

You should carry a bucket of coal and just toss them at any Prius on the road. With extra points for getting it through a window.
Now I am not saying you should break the window. How ever if you do, Oh Well.
