I have a 1971 F-350 Dually that I plan to customize a little. Part of which would be lowering. I already know about and have obtained info for direct fit beams, however I am looking at different ways to lower the rear and improve the ride. I was thinking about removing leafs or swapping in either F-250 or even F-100 spring packs. Other than occasional hay hauling I just drive the truck as is. That 11,000 gvw is a bear on the guts and not to mention the little lady isn't thrilled with the ride.
My question is - Are the spring hangers / perches the same throughout the F series line? Would other truck spring packs fit without having to move the mounts?
Not sure about F350s. They might be different than 100/250. But you can probably just yank out the bottom half of the spring pack and be good. Depending in how many leaves are on each side, you want to leave about 5 or 6 probably. Or just leave about 4 and install some air bag springs to help out.
I still have the overload springs so that would help with a load. Probably won't work it much once I finish it. My plan is for the exhaust to come up through the bed ala diesel style. It is a flat bed so any hay hauling might turn in to an inferno!
Looking at exploded views on FORDification.com and everything looks the same from 100/250/350 just no dimensions.
1967/72 F350's have 6, 9 or 10 leaf rear springs. The 6 (C7TZ-5560-F) leaf and 9 (C7TZ-5560-G) leaf rear springs are the same as 1967/72 F250's without Flex-O-Matic.
These springs are 2 1/4" wide .. 26.00" > > eye bolt < < 26.00."
