Has any body here made or know of anyone who has made sway bay disconects on bronco? My friend has a jeep and he can have'm connected or disconnected when ever he wants. I want to take em off for off roading, but i do alot of street driving. Any ideas?
Try running without your front hooked up for a while you might not even notice a diffrence. But yes you can put quick disconnects on a bronco. You just need to cut off the ears for the stock sway bar and drill holes near the lower front shock mount. I have the parts to do this but havent installed them yet. If or when I do I will post a tech article on my site.
Do you have a PIC or any sort? I'm not tracking exactly what you intend to do. I had considered just replacing the top bolt of the sway bar end link with a pin. Other than a little potential racket when wheelin, it seems like it would work.
Unfortunatey the guy that came up witht he idea doesnt have his site up right now. but fortunately I did print out the tech article and will post what I'm talking about tomorrow.
I removed my sway bars altogether and don't have any problems with highway driving. I have a 4" suspension lift and a 3" body lift and like the added articulation that I get with sway bars off. As long as your suspension is in decent shape you should only notice a difference at high speeds while cornering. i don't know about you but the word bronco and high speed cornering don't mesh very well with or without sway bars. Try it, worse case scenario you can always reinstall them.
Ditto to 90EBBronco. After 4" of lift with new heavier springs the loss of the sway bars was virtually unnoticable. But then I didn't expect to be able to corner at 60 mph sitting 4" taller on 33's either. Front sway bar bushing mount location is idea for recovery hooks especially for those of us with that silly "accordian" section of the front end of the frame.
Nice article. I will have to keep that in mind. i have all sorts of big ideas for the new truck. Just have to pace myself or I end up having to decide whether to play with the truck or eat.
I removed both my swaybars last night on your advice. I can't tell any difference at all. My front springs are 2" Ranchos so they are a bit stiffer than stock. Truck appears to lean an inch or so on a hard 40 mph corner. Probably did that even with the bar in place.
I was hoping my ride might smooth out in the process. No such luck, it's still a Bronco.
