I bought an 89 F150 Custom 300 i6 last year as my first truck and started working on it with my dad, we had to move and my truck came with me to my farm. I fiddled with it and got it running but it would start running like it was lean or it was too rich. I fiddled with it some more and while i was messing with it i found other issues that had to be fixed because my brand new coil went out and my brand new ignition module went out so the truck wouldn't run. I discovered a bunch of vacuum leaks and fixed them and it stopped running rich, but it still ran horrible after i drove it, i had no choice but to park the truck up when it left me stranded and wouldn't start again. I had only driven it to the gas station to fill up and it died on the side of the road. While it was parked i found that someone stole my ecu, i need to buy a new one now. I want to get the truck running because it is easier to fix this truck than it is to pull my other truck out of 2 feet of mud. I already know where to get the ecu and how much its gonna cost me. If anyone knows anything about the 300 i6 running rough, stalling, or outright dying after 5 minutes of driving then please let me know how you fixed it. If you need any other information then feel free to ask any questions you have
That's low even for a common thief to steal the ECU out of the truck while it's parked...I'm amazed at our society and how people treat others....
If you can post a pic of the Calibration code on the door pillar or type it here, Subford or another member can help you out. Hopefully, that trashy thief got the bad ECU out of your truck and you'll find a decent priced reman.
I thought i was having ecu problems because it was giving me problems left and right that i couldnt seem to fix. i will try to find the code but this truck is well abused and the door doesnt close right so my door sticker is gone
