Please Post Your Year and Model When Requesting Help
Many of us really enjoy helping people try to diagnose their problems with their vehicles but we cant do you much good if you dont take a moment to post what your vehicle model and year is. Other details such as 4X4, engine, trans, etc are helpfull as well. Wiring and component changes over just a year or so difference can be substantial, so this information is really needed. And please do report back what your findings were so others can benefit by your experience. This way we can all pass on fixes to the next guy who shares your need.
Mr winzlow, Ihave a 98 f15o v6. my problem is the 5 amp fuse for the insturments blows. I was on an errand and thy were fine started the truck after it sat for about 30 min and insturments were dead. I replaced the fuse drove the truck the next day for about 20 mi. truck sat for about 45 min and once again whrn it started the instruments were dead.I talked to a mechanic and he advised to put in a 10 amp and if that blew there was a short. dont like the idea of putting in a bigger fuse. thanks in advance for your help
Im betting that is fuse 29. It is common for the wiring to the transmission overdrive switch on the columb shifter to get chaffed and short out that fuse, often when you move the transmission control lever. It usually gets chaffed on the shifter boot bracket or will wear right at the point where the wiring loom enters the metal shifter arm itself. You can remove the columb shroud and inspect the wiring to the shifter lever and look for a spot worn through. Either repair the worn through section or replace the shift lever assembly which can be purchased at Ford for around 50 bucks.
Thank you so much.Your were right the wire going to the overdrive was shorting.I was able to tape the wires.it is nice that someone is willing to help. have a happy holiday
Mr. Winzlow,
We have an E350 V10 Club Wagon XLT 1997 that has a brake caliper locking up. We have changed the caliper and pads, still locking.
It releases slowly by itself after a few minutes. Any ideas?
Thank you.
I hope I am in the right place I have to replace my egr valve in my F150 96 model I know where it is but it looks like I may need a 2 inch adjustable wrench to get it off and I can not find one is there anything else I can use.
Have a 02 350 SD XL RC, V10 w/auto trans that keeps blowing the PATS fuse, #44. The instruments quit working and the first time it happened the display on the radio flashed, Low Battery. I have looked on the internet and they refer to the PATS as a security system, the ingnition key has a chip in it? I don't think this truck has one. With a Ford mechanic's advice, replaced the alternator, (OUCH$$), the battery went bad also, related, I don't know? After the new alternator and replaced fuse, worked fine for a while, but blew the fuse again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
superdave57,according to my EVTM and the latest electronic version on the FMC PTS site, there is no fuse in position 44 for the pickups, and shows only for Excursions with PATS and goes to the PATS system directly.
What is your trucks production date, and reverify exactly the fuse position in your fuse box and its amperage.
Im guessing maybe you are experiencing a battery saver relay fault which is built into the instrument cluser, or a failed Vehicle security module possibly. If either one of these are indeed the actual problem you will need to go to the dealer for repair, as both will need to be programmed with their computers after installation.
i have an 85 bronco with the 302 and auto that i use to plow snow. its a good runner but the last time i was out the wipers started to act up. they will work fine for a while then just start stopping randomly for a second or two and the continue and it seems the longer i run the wipers the worse it gets to the point when they almost are stopped more than moving. checked my ground for the motor and its fine and so is the linkage etc. is there a relay or something like that after the switch that could be malfunctioning? the motor is my first guess but its $50 so i don't wanna do that based on a guess if i can help it.
I have a 1984 E350 ford, motor 351 V8 carborated box truck. I need to find a wiring diagram to find out where the three wires go from the voltage regulator. Help!

you can find a number of wiring diagrams (according to your van's engine configuration) at the AutoZone website. i find this website (not just the FTE, but AZ as well) most convenient and reliable too.
