First timer here and learning so much. I was going thought the sticky's and saw some information on Hood release cable system that came from a Granada and other cars that are a the same units for our trucks that will bolt right up. I didn't take the info down and for the life of me, can't find it. Any info on installing the cable hood release and which one to use would be a great help. Thanks in advance!!
I suspect that the latch itself is a direct replacement. Dunno about the cable and release handle. I'm inclined to believe that the Granada cable would be shorter than the trucks', but I don't know for sure.
Sometimes the best way to find out is to just start installing it.
I know nothing about any crossovers to the cars. Below is what I installed on a 1976 F-250 standard cab. It has a lock, fit well without alterations, and works well. The instructions were included.
I got one of the NOS kits off Ebay, specifically for the F series, direct bolt in, the holes under the dash for the handle are already there, hunt around, hopefully you can find one.
The Granada/Monarch latch will not work on a truck, I stated that twice in this thread. Only the cable is the same.
Sorry for not understanding that up front. Thanks for the correction. So now the question is, with original latch, what mods need to be done for the cable setup to work. Just a mater of removing the lever. I have not looked at the hood latch yet, just got the thing and it is still in the shop. I will have a closer look at it at the beginning of the week.
