I have one of the OEM all-inclusive hood latches and cable that I got as a gift and don't want to install it, it's for sale. PM me if interested. Thanks

Hey Don, I sent you a PM. Let me know if you got it.
Thanks,
Dennis
This is fantastic information. Is there any way that you could scan this sheet of paper and post up a high quality scan on the forum?
The instructions on the top-right are difficult to read.
The problem is that the paper is larger than the bed on the scanner. I might be able to scan it in sections or photograph it in sections. It's at another location. Give me some time and I'll give it a try.
Cougar2,
I didn't get a PM from you, but did see that you said you sent me one. I sent you PM a few minutes ago IRT the 73-79 Ford F-Series OEM Locking Hood Latch and provided you with my work E-mail address.

Hey Don, It looks like Im not able to give pm's or receive them since I have not posted 5 messages yet and have not been here longer than 10 days. You can contact me, via my email. I know it's not the way to do it, but here it is. Just get rid of the spaces and change AT to @

Thanks for the up close and detailed diagram pics! I have been cleaning out my '78 bit by bit and found the t-handle buried in with a bunch of other junk so I am going to be re-installing it. What type of wire cable should I be looking at using?

Bicycle brake cable. It's thicker than the factory cable, and has roughly the same ends. Get a 10 foot brake cable (if you can), and cut it down to size. You'll also have to reshape one of the Barrel ends to fit into the pull mechanism that goes into the cab. This small amount of work, and you'll have a brand new pull cable that will last for years.

I should have mentioned this... don't know why I didn't think of it... Also ask the bike shop you visit to cut you 10 feet of bicycle cable sheathing to match.
your old sheathing will be very stiff and likely worn out because the plastic has degraded over the years. I picked up my bike cable + sheathing for a whopping total of $30.
Cougar2,
Letting you know I didn't get a PM from you and it appears your unable to receive PM via the forum. Hoping I'm violating our forum rules next by asking you to send me an E-mail at: eqcmcat@gmail.com

Great idea! I was actually out poking around under the hood this morning and found that sheathing coiled up behind the grill. Doesn't seem to be in too bad of shape... looks as if the wire snapped somehow as some point
