I just got back from a couple of weeks in Iceland, gas (only one Octane grade but they use a different method for that number than we do) and Diesel run about the same price, 233.3 IS Kronor per liter, so at 3.785 liters per gallon and 120 IS Kronos per US Dollar both motor fuels are about $7.35 per gallon. Very expensive place to live and visit but well worth it as the locals are great it is like a different world!
Damm. NH, an hour north of Boston. Reg is about $2.75, Premium around $3.50, diesel $3.25. And yeah, CA I feel for you. We were out in SF for a couple of days last spring, and could not believe what prices were for everything - food, gas, a beer in a bar!
Raleigh, NC area - on I-95 the is about a one dollar deference between gas and diesel $2.30 vs $3.30. In town has about $2.20 for gas and 2.95 diesel. I’ve had my truck for three months now, most I’ve paid is $3.09. Gas is down 70 cents a gallon, diesel down 15 cents, what gives?
Diesel's market is overseas. Other than over-the-road trucks, the diesel market in the U.S. is tiny. Forty years ago and longer, it was very hard to find diesel anywhere but truck stops along the highway well outside of town. If you owned a diesel car (Mercedes mostly) back then, you had some real range anxiety issues. With that, diesel is still kind of a boutique market here so prices are higher than gasoline. Also, diesel fuel has 8 cents more tax than gasoline.
Prices here in San Antonio: Regular around two bucks or a little less. Diesel just a nick above $2.80.
Diesel the same as home heating oil, so in the winter it is relatively more expensive than gasoline, then in the summer it gets relatively cheaper. Remember you get 10% more BTUs per gallon when you buy diesel compared to gasoline, that is part of the reason that diesels 25 to 30% better fuel economy than gassers. 10% is the fuel, the other 15 to 20% is the unthrottled, compression ignition Diesel cycle versus the throttled, spark ignition Otto cycle.

Reason: Spell
Have not seen diesel cheaper than gasoline in many years. The gov went and told the refiners they had to make reformulated gasoline, with methyl tertiary butyl ether. And alkylates etc. THEN they somehow decided that MTBE was leaching out of storage tanks and getting into groundwater. THEN the gov pulled the rug out from under the refiners and told them they needed to stop making MTBE. After they had spent collectively hundreds of billions of dollars nation-wide to comply.
THEN the gov dictated to refiners that they needed to make low-sulfur diesel, under 15 ppm. So to build the units to make ULSD, the refiners generally decided to treat the feedstocks to remove the sulfur compounds and heavy metals since that would also help enhance the longevity of the metallurgy in the whole refinery. And so the refiners started out building the ULSD units. Well all these years later, the costs for that have been re-couped BUT the diesel prices remain elevated above gasoline to this day, and likely forever. THEN the gov again dictated that the automakers needed to start adding on emissions crap to the trucks that does exactly what everyone absolutely hates. A huge part of that 9 large extra for diesel? Yep, it's the emissions that everyone wants to delete.
BTW, the north slope of Alaska has more than enough oil and gas deposits to make this country completely and totally energy independent for the next 200+ years. So ask yourself WHY IS IT THE GOV CONTINUALLY STICKS IT TO US ALL? WHY did the gov do their dead level best to stop the Trans Alaska pipeline by inducing HUGE cost over-runs to try to bankrupt Atlantic Richfield (ARCO) and darn near succeeded in shutting it down? Just what is up with all the BS "global warming and climate change crap"? Does anyone here see a prevailing pattern to what is happening in this country? Right after filling up your trucks with 50 to 100 dollars worth of fuel, look up into the sky and observe all the chemtrails that they are spraying on us all. I could go on and on but maybe yall get the picture?
The prevailing bad actor in all this is the GOV. Who told those *******s they could ride herd over everyone with their communistic dictates? When does Civil War 2 start? Will the middle class (what is left of it) ever wake up? Prolly right after they take all our guns and it is a little too late...
Wow what a rant. And diesel is always at least 50 cents a gallon more than gasoline (regular) here in south TX. Remember to thank the true culprit in all this. THE US GOVERNMENT.
