Was just wondering if there's a way to program the side power folding mirrors to automatically fold closed when leaving the vehicle and then open when starting the truck? I looked in the owners manual and couldn't find anything and didn't know if it's possible. I just noticed a lot of new SD owners have theirs folded when they leave the truck and I always forget to do so as I'm leaving mine!LOL! Thanks in advance!!
Very easy to do in ForScan, there are 2 options, both will fold mirrors on lock, one unfolds mirrors on unlock, the other (Lincoln style) unfolds mirrors on driver door close once unlocked, both options require you to swap 2 pins behind each mirror otherwise they do the opposite of what you are trying to achieve. I use the unfold on driver door close, this way my mirrors arent cycling each time i unlock my truck to get something using a door other than the driver door.
Thanks guys for the responses!!! I think I'm going to do the ForScan and do the pin-swap as I'll never remember to fold the mirrors in when parking and if someone runs into them, it's an expensive fix. Thanks Again!!
I've said this before. If you ever park at night with your wiper arms pointed toward the sky, this may not be a good mod for you. Freezing precipitation will play havoc with your mirror motors. Add to the possibility of damaging the plastic mirror gears, Ford has the dealers perform a very detailed inspection of the mirrors (looking for any minute sign of an impact) whenever a folding mirror warranty claim surfaces.
Yup - my truck sat out over night and I tried extending the mirrors and they didn't move. I'm betting condensation froze and locked something up - I bumped the button back the other direction and left it. I wouldn't want the mirrors trying to fold and unfold in the winter, something will break.
