I have a 2008 F350 CC King Ranch. The problem it has is the fuel gauge is pegged below E, Trip computer is reading "--- miles to E"
As long as I've owned the truck, about once a month, with 5/8 of a tank, it would peg the gauge like this, but would right itself on the next startup and display properly. It quit doing that, so I assumed it was the sending unit. I got one from a junkyard, and plugged it into the pigtail without installing, and it behaved exactly the same. This leads me to believe that I need to replace the cluster, but I'd like to know for sure before I throw parts at it.
Does anyone know what wires, or pins within what plugs the sending unit wires run to? Or perhaps have the wiring diagram and know what resistance its looking for?
Thanks in advance for any help. And if you want to tell me what to google or that I should have searched the forum, I have done so extensively, and if the answer is there and I missed it, I'm obviously not that smart, so help me out, lol.
A couple years ago I had a very erratic fuel gauge. It would show a different reading each time I shut down and started back up. I changed the sending unit and it did not fix the problem. I ended up sending my instrument cluster to "Circuit Board Medics" and they did a one day turn around and fixed the issue. It has worked fine since. I live in OK and I believe Circuit Board Medics were in NC or somewhere like that.

Thanks a bunch for the reference. I'll add it to the diary. I've found if I shut the engine off during fill up the issues does no occur.
