Looking for any decent repair shop in Maryland area to install new head gaskets and stud kit on my 2003 , 6.0. 4x4 dually. Of the few places I know of ,they want over 5 thousand for a head gasket repair ,seem I little over priced to me.
After doing the head gaskets in my 2006 6.0 myself, I'd say that $5K to have a shop do it sounds about right. I spent about about $1,000 just in parts alone. The ARP stud kit cost me $425 itself. It's a very laborious job to do head gaskets on a 6.0 engine. You might get lucky and your heads won't be cracked. I had a machine shop check my heads and they said they looked fine. They just surfaced them for me.
5K is probably right if that includes parts, labor, magnafluxing and making sure the heads are flat.
It's actually cheaper to find a place that pulls the cab over trying to do it inside the engine bay.
It's been a while, but about 4 years ago 4K got me studs, FelPro gaskets, turbo clean, factory oil cooler, head work, and labor for self purchased Bulletproof EGR and water pump.
