lost

I have a 2005 F350 crew cab dually, so far I have new heads, studs, replaced every component sensor, replaced the ficm, replaced the ecm, replaced the engine harness, replaced the ficm harness, did the hpop upgrade, new batteries, new fuel pump, the truck only has 94600 miles on it. I did the oil pressure test and have 1286 psi. I am totally lost as to why I don't have sync. I do have a scanguage2 still learning about it. The engine cranks at 180rpm . I know using starting fluid is not good, yet I tried it and the engine started, got sync and ran like brand new. I am lost as to how to fix the truck. I desperately need help. I bought the truck to deliver camping trailers for a living and learned afterwards I bought a truck with blown head gaskets. I am a poor man that has to save money for each repair I try. I never asked anyone before for help in my life and I am 61 years old. This truck has me defeated and lost. Can anyone tell me what to try next?

There is a no-start thread in the Tech Folder that has quite a bit of information in it.

While looking through it, can you post up some cranking readings? Be aware that there is cam/crank sync and FICM sync, so we need to know what each one is when cranking. I assume you mean that your cranking ICP pressure is 1286 psi, so we need to also know your your ICP volts, and your IPR % Duty Cycle. Also we need to know the three FICM volts (MPower, LPower, and VPower).

For what it's worth, my scanguage always showed 0 for cam/crank sync and 1 for FICM sync. No matter how many times I entered the xgauge for cam/crank. I bought the Forscan/ELM adapter and it shows that I do in fact have cam/crank sync. You may want to get a 2nd opinion with a different tool on the cam/crank sync value.

Just gotten home from where the truck is sitting. Got the readings I could find but I never found any coding to check cam crank sync, only ficm sync.
If I coded the gage properly these are the reading
icp 1337
icv 1.62
fmp 48,0
flp 12.5
sync 0
ipr 35.5

Cam/Crank Sync

FICM SYNC

IMO your SYC of "0" is for the cam/crank sensor, not the FICM.

With all the readings looking good (including rpm), the no sync issue is likely due to a failed cam sensor.

One other PID request -

Could you post the Vreference voltage, KOEO, and cranking?

The code I used for sync
07E02209CD
0462050906CD
3601
000100010000
Yes tomorrow I will get the VREF voltage and use the new sync codes for ficm and cam/crk. it is a 1 hour drive to where the truck is parked from my house.

So that is FICM sync as you said. We need to see the cam/crank sync value as well. If you have cam/crank sync, then typically that may indicate a FICM issue, but since you have replaced it, I have to assume it is OK.

In your first post, you said you replaced every "component sensor". Did that include the CMP (cam sensor)?

Can you get the codes read by a good code reader (scangauge is not good at codes)?

Thanks, I would focus on the CMP testing then.

So you don't think you need to test it (the CMP)?

In the PC/ED manual - page 4-26:
No fuel command signal when the ICP, RPM, and VPWR signals are correct usually indicates a loss of CMP signal. Go to Pinpoint test V. Fuel PW defaults to 0 with no CMP or CKP signal. The CMP sends the sync signal to the PCM. No Sync while cranking the engine with the ICP, RPM, and VPWR signals correct usually indicates a loss of the CMP or CKP synchronization signal.

Just trying to help stop the money flow from parts changing.

If you don't feel that testing the CMP is worthwhile, then I will guess at the only other thing that I know of that might prevent cam/crank sync (since rpms, HPO, system voltage are all in spec, and clearly you have fuel delivery since it runs fine after starting w/ starting fluid) - an injector coil short. Seems like it would have run rough after you got it started w/ the starting fluid though ....

Also, as stated previously, scanning for codes may be helpful. The scangauge does a poor job of it.

Best of luck to you.
