I have a 1999 Ford F-250 super duty with the 5.4l triton that’s throwning these lean codes, I recently have done all the intake gaskets and as far as I know all the vacuum lines are connected. The hose coming off the intake tube going driver side valve cover is split pretty bad and needs to be replaced. And I’m gonna check for correct placement on the pcv valve and the other hose on the intake tube to make sure they aren’t swapped. Just so I can make sure does the pcv valve connect to the TB?

Fix the stuff that's obvious, then come back.

The PCV hose on most of these modular engines connects to a port that faces the firewall and is a challenge to get to.

You have any idea where I can get the piece of rubber hose that goes from the intake tube to the driver side VC? I’ve tried looking online but that didn’t help either.

NAPA sells vacuum line. Even if it’s a factory molded piece, they still might be able to work out a solution with off the shelf parts.

The lean codes can be caused by an air leak at any point between the throttle body and the heads. I always start with the simplest and least expensive fix first, then work "up" from there. Since you are throwing codes for both banks, it is most likely at or near the throttle body or the intake plenum. Did you check it for cracks when you replaced the gaskets? A disconnected or broken line between the Idle Air Control (IAC) and the throttle body will cause the lean condition too. While I've never heard of an IAC sticking open, that is another possibility. I know they DO stick shut. mine requires cleaning about every 100,000 miles. I pull the throttle body and clean it at the same time.

Actually, the correct span would be between the MAF sensor and the heads. The MAF sensor is "upstream" from the TB.

Vacuum leaks in the intake tract probably account for > 90% of these code pair occurrences. MAF sensor issues and fuel supply issues take care of most of the remaining.

Okay so I had another problem that caused the truck to not even idle...ended up being the top hose connected to the air intake tube in the picture and it’s connected to the throttle body itself, and the pcv eagle on the passenger side valve cover is connected to the intake manifold. Is that the right spot?
