Gem Module
Talked to a mechanic about my issues . He said with everything that I told him that it sounded like the gen-module was the culprit. The bad news was that it wasn't the cost of replacement/work required, but the wait & cost the dealership to get everything reprogramed. Anyone have issues with the gen-module ?

edited that . It's corrected now . My truck's a '01. Mechanic said that it's difficult to get to , that all the grounds go through it . After he mentioned it . I thought I had heard the previous mention something about it before .

They don't make the GEM Module any more for the 2001 trucks. So you won't be able to buy a new one. You need to remove the one you have, and get the part number off it, and see if you can find a used one somewhere. I don't believe the 2001 need to be programmed.

Try throwing a few dollars worth of electrolytic capacitors at it. May be all that's wrong with it. Worth a try anyway. If you do happen to find a used GEM, the caps inside of that one are going to be just as old.

Dealerships won't be any use. Trust us, they're all sold out and wont be of any help. You need the part number and a junkyard search engine.

Literally just went through this with my 01 battled it for 6 months took it out and inspected it a few times even went as far as taking the fuse box apart looking for corrosion. It would work for a bit but progressively got worse final straw was my windshield wipers wouldn’t shut off and my windows wouldn’t roll down. Found one yesterday at my local salvage yard with the fuse box attached and all seems to be well. Kinda frustrating though looking for the part to be honest! I wish you luck!

Well , called Ford garage parts department today . They do still sell some , and some are no longer available like a fore mentioned . They told me that they would need the last 8 digits of the VIN to know for sure . They also said that they'd have to be programed as well. However , they're not cheap. I will be looking around for the number off the box, and look / call some junkyards for the part.

I would not trust the recommendation of any mechanic who diagnosed your problems based solely on you telling him your symptoms. I also don't recommend that you replace your GEM without first doing some basic electrical troubleshooting.
